Pecan pies have grown to be a generally accepted meal in the United States. It is also one of the most prepared meals during special days such as Thanksgiving and Christmas. While this well-known dessert is loved by many, we have been surprised at how many people call us and admit they don't know how to make a pecan pie.
Thankfully, preparing a pecan pie is not hard and I hope that this post will assist you in baking one for possibly the first time! Homemade pecan pie is a traditional meal, and even kids can participate in the preparation process. In fact, I grew up helping my mother and grandmother make pecan pie for our family gatherings. Those moments in the kitchen with my mother, grandmother and sisters are some special memories.
I hope you use this pecan pie recipe to make some memories with your kids or grandkids! Of course, if for some reason you aren't ready to bake one yourself you can always order a Millican Pecan Pie online.
How to Make A Pecan Pie?
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 pinch kosher salt
1 ¼ stick butter, cubed and chilled
2 large egg yolks
4 tablespoons ice water
FILLING
2 cups Pecan Pieces
¾ cup light corn syrup
3 large eggs
1 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons butter, melted
½ teaspoon kosher salt
Step 1: First mix the flour and salt in a large bowl
Step 2: Add the butter cubes into the flour and mix it correctly with the flour. Make sure that there are no lumps of butter left after mixing.
Step 3: In a separate bowl, mix the egg yolks and ice water until they blend well.
Step 4: Now pour the egg yolk and ice water combination into the flour mixture.
Step 5: Mix them properly until the dough starts combining. Also, you can apply a bit of liquid to very dry areas. You would know that the mixture is okay when they can hold together.
Step 6: Put the dough in a clean round plate and form a disc shape. Cover the disc-shaped dough and put in the refrigerator for it to chill; leave it for at least 30 min.
Step 7: Preheat the oven to 350°F
Step 8: Sprinkle flour on a clean surface and roll the chilled dough on the floured surface. Make sure you roll the mixture well.
Step 9: Make a circle shape with the dough and place it in a 9-inch pie dish. Cut out the excess dough on the sides.
Step 10: Get a separate bowl and whisk together the pecans, corn syrup, eggs, sugar, vanilla, melted butter, and salt. Whisk properly to make the filling.
Step 11: Pour the filling into the pie crust and put it in the oven. Now leave it in the oven for up to 50-60 minutes for the filling to set.
Step 12: Serve while cold and enjoy the meal.
