Delicious Texas Southern Pecan Pie

This is a full nine-inch Texas pecan pie, which is the classic American pie pan size you would see at a holiday dinner. Depending on how generous you cut the slices, it serves eight comfortably as dessert after a meal or ten to twelve in smaller pieces alongside coffee. Many of our customers buy one for the family table and a second to keep in the freezer for unexpected guests, since pecan pie freezes beautifully and is hard to top as a last-minute sweet.

There are a few reasons why our pie was featured on the Food Network show. First, the recipe has been handed down in our family for five generations, with the kind of tweaks and adjustments that only come from making a pie the same way for over a hundred years. The filling holds up beautifully thanks to the sugar and the eggs, and the crust stays in good shape as long as it is wrapped. For longer storage, pecan pie is one of the easiest desserts to freeze. Wrap it tightly in plastic and then foil, and it will keep for several months in the freezer. To serve, just thaw it overnight in the refrigerator and bring it back to room temperature, or warm individual slices.
