Easy Apple Jam Recipe with Pecans

Pecan Recipes Blog

This apple jam recipe is easy and delicious. And as an added bonus...it has orchard fresh pecans too!

Have you ever been to one of those pick your own fruit farms? They are the best. It makes me feel like I'm stepping back in time and walking in the footsteps of generations before me. I mean, really! Most of our produce comes from our local grocery store. All the hard work of harvesting the fruit and veggies has already been done. (Which is a really nice, convenient thing in my opinion.) But there is something to be said about getting your hands dirty.

Picking Apples for Our Apple Jam Recipe

My kids love going to these farms. In fact, we've stopped at least a dozen over the last few years on various vacations. We've had the opportunity to pick apples, peaches, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, blueberries and more. It's so fun! We had this one place that we went to in North Carolina. I'll never forget it. It was apple season and we had more apple varieties available to pick that I had ever seen. Honestly, I didn't know that many apple varieties existed.

My friend, Linda, loves apple jelly. In fact, it’s the only type of jelly that she will eat. I can sympathize. Apples are one of my go-to fruits and a standard item on my grocery list. With fall just around the corner, she and I thought it would be the perfect time to try our hand at some apple jelly. Well, we actually upgraded the basic jelly recipe and opted for an easy apple jam recipe with pecans. We found a recipe that will not disappoint.

We sampled our batch on some hot biscuits fresh out of the oven. May I suggest that you do the same? And be sure to share it with a friend or two. After all, this apple jam has a way of strengthening ties between friends. Plus the mixture of apples, cinnamon and pecans will have you jumping for joy that fall is nearly here!

Easy Apple Jam Recipe with Pecans

12 cups Apples, peeled and blended in food processor

1 cup Water

1 tsp. Butter

1 tsp. Cinnamon

1/2 tsp. Nutmeg

4 pouches liquid Certo Pectin

6 cups Sugar

4 cups Brown Sugar, packed

3 cups Millican Pecan Pieces

Prepare jars by pouring 1/4 cup Pecan Pieces in the bottom of each jar. Combine apples, butter, water, cinnamon and nutmeg in a pot. Cook and stir over low heat until apples are tender. Stir in sugar and brown sugar. Bring to a boil stirring constantly. Boil for 4 minutes. Stir in pectin and remove from heat. Pour the apple jam mixture into prepared jars. This recipe makes about 12 jars if you are using 12 oz. jars.

Sweet Combination of Apples and Pecans

Give September a warm welcome by trying this recipe and when you do let me know your thoughts. Does the combination of apples, cinnamon and pecans remind you of autumn baking in your grandmother’s kitchen? It does for me. And you know what, I’m going to leave for now and give my sweet grandmother a call. Happy baking friends!
